Miscellaneous: Fall Fashion Colors 2009-2010
A completely seasonal color palette, black, gray, and muted jewel tones work against a shocking run of contrast colors with deep black tailored pieces. Blasts of solid light turquoise, scorching hot pink, and even bright orange work as "shocker" accessories to cut into the long solid dense black clothing shown everywhere. Animal print ensemble was the first outfit on the Blumarine runway. Black ruled the Fall 2009-2010 runways with sensible jewel tone touches, bare makeup, and leather touches and special detail pieces in other colors.
The rock and roll influence is shown with introductions of black caged shoe boots with high heels and metallic finish trims. The lack of jangle factor and soigne intent renders long black lines that emphasize high boot detail and metallic gleam of a belt, trim or necklace. Sapphire blue with black makes the punk influence range forward, especially at Gucci where a black and white checkerboard flag was used as a collar treatment.
Muted colors match the tapered silhouette with accent falling on keynote places like feet, waist, collar and wrists. Gold is a big color but in limited and subdued amount. Authentic 1980's touches like strong shoulders with opulent edginess via sequins or elegant leather and luxurious metalllics. Subdued dark aqua with gray leather in textures contrived together is a uniquely Fall 2009 and 2010. Black leather accessories with boots, gloves, purses, belts, everything black leather, textured or cutout leather, patent black or another color leather.
Metallic colors for Fall 2009-2010 work into the jewelry and gold bags. But dark orange works into brown stories as well as straight against black, as well as a cutout or distressed design of black on black that practically makes the design of a dress top or jacket its own color. Hair is unconstrained, pulled away from the face and muffled or ties without accessory. the Fall 2009-2010 is about the clothes, not hair or makeup. The Nina Ricci collection was a stunning admixture of dark gray and purple tones in deep amethyst and some dark blue.

The look is rash in places, not fussy or costume. The serious pulling down of the fashion look demands a posture that can wear a severe dress or a loose pair of pants without disturbing the head to to toe vertical line.
A Fall 2009-2010 dress will have a couture air by its inclusion of ladylike line, sharp high shoulders, leather belt, no earrings, restrained/nonpresent hair, and a lack of adornment while retaining design integrity. If knits are present they are neutral and muted custom shades. Christian Dior strayed almost completely from these maxims in the haute couture altitudes of Fashion Fall 2009-2010. But Versace features orange dresses for day and evening, and turquoise as well in scalloped leather miniskirts and trailing evening dresses.
Gucci showed a finished and severe black on black collection with spare bits of jewel tones accents and some import gray on gray and gray on black flourishes. Blumarine framed fushchia, pink, yellow, and powder aqua blue trenchcoats with knit dresses in front of a Warhol four-frame of Marilyn Monroe. Nina Ricci defined the Fall 2009 2010 fashion season with a stunning black texture runway show that was an education in glamor.
